Goldman Sachs reportedly cuts most employees off from AI coding tools
Goldman Sachs has reportedly cut off most of its employees from advanced AI coding tools like Claude Code and GitHub. Only engineers can still use them, according to Bloomberg, citing internal guidelines from October. Goldman spokesperson Nick Carcaterra cited "a variety of factors including productivity and risk management."
NoteGoldman treats who builds with AI coding tools as a separate decision from whether the firm uses them at all. Productivity and risk management are the factors the spokesperson named, and any bank giving these tools to non-engineers will have to weigh the same two.
