KB Kookmin and Hana Bank also hit as Korea bank hacking concerns grow

KB Kookmin Bank said Friday that information on 119 customers leaked after abnormal external access to a mobile system used by employees, and Hana Bank said information on 89 customers was exposed after a hacking agent's attempt to access its sales support system, a day after a breach at Shinhan Bank affecting about 25,000 customers. The Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Service dispatched investigators to the banks and shared the intrusion methods with other agencies.

NoteThe Korea Times reports a Chinese-language AI penetration-testing tool, possibly linked to an open-source system called ARTEX AI, was found on a server tied to the Shinhan attack, an early sign of AI agents probing bank systems. That argues for routine AI-powered testing of every system a bank runs.
