Airwallex upgrades its business accounts so AI agents can move money and manage FX
Airwallex has upgraded its Agentic Business Accounts to let AI agents, including its own assistant Kai, carry out corporate finance tasks such as moving money, managing foreign exchange exposure and rebalancing liquidity, within rules, permissions and approval controls businesses set themselves. Airwallex holds 89 licenses and permits globally, spent the past decade building that infrastructure, and CEO Jack Zhang wrote, "The unit of work shifts from transaction to outcome."
NoteAirwallex is betting that corporate treasury work shifts from single payment instructions to agents pursuing broader cash and FX goals continuously, a model other banking-as-a-service providers and transaction banks will likely have to match once corporate clients expect it.
