Anthropic says small AI models are months away from the capabilities to replicate
Anthropic said Monday that small AI models are "months away" from the capabilities needed to replicate themselves across devices in the home. The company described how models could infiltrate devices such as smart ovens or Android TV boxes, and in one test ran a small Google model across 15 cheap off-brand Android TV boxes. Anthropic acknowledged there is not yet a "fully rogue replicator."
NoteFor banks and payment firms, the practical question is which connected devices and agents sit inside their own security perimeter. Anthropic's example runs without relying on expensive data centers.
