JPMorgan is pitching a yield of about 11% on a US$5bil loan for Volta's AI data centre

On 7 Oct, The Star said JPMorgan is pitching a yield of about 11% on a US$5bil leveraged-loan sale for Volta Infrastructure Holdings. The loan is being marketed at 6.25 to 6.5 percentage points above the benchmark rate, according to a person familiar with the matter. The loan will finance a data centre complex in Norway, and Anthropic has signed a six-year agreement for compute capacity at the site, according to people familiar with the matter.
NoteAt about 11%, the yield is one of the highest borrowing costs seen for risky debt that has become popular for financing the AI boom. The Star's report says the deal marks a new high in all-in yield.
