JPMorgan won't allow outside AI agents to access customer accounts

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said the bank won't allow outside AI agents to access customer accounts and operate on their behalf, citing risk to clients. A spokeswoman told CNBC the bank currently blocks external agents from operating on behalf of retail customers, with no timeline for safeguards that would let agents interact directly with accounts. Agents can still read some data, such as balances, through connectors like Plaid.
NoteFor finance teams, the line the bank draws is between reading account data and acting on it, and CNBC reports that agents can do the first but can't send money or pay a bill. Dimon said customers who use outside agents should understand there's a liability transfer.
