FBI arrests OpenAI employee over recording device hidden in conference room

The DOJ said a Saudi national was arrested on Oct. 9 in connection with a recording device found in OpenAI's executive conference room. OpenAI said the employee planted the device a few days before it was found, and the employee was terminated. OpenAI said it has "no indications" the employee accessed model weights, source code or customer data.
NoteThe incident is about the office, and OpenAI says it has no sign of access to model weights or customer data. Vendor reviews of AI labs should cover insider and physical risk as well as model security.
