OpenAI close to finalizing up to $30 billion round at $1.25 trillion valuation

OpenAI is close to finalizing an up to $30 billion funding round at a $1.25 trillion pre-money valuation, according to people familiar with the deal, CNBC reports. Investors from the United Arab Emirates are leading it alongside Coatue, and the financing is being positioned as a bridge ahead of a potential IPO. TechCrunch notes that Bloomberg reported a $1.4 trillion valuation a month ago, and that terms are still being negotiated.
NoteThe valuation does not include the new capital raised, and a valuation of more than $1 trillion would break records as the most valued private company ever. The round would also raise the bar for OpenAI's forthcoming IPO.
