Westpac says AI cut its St.George data warehouse migration cost to around $35 million

On Nov 2, iTnews reported that Westpac says AI cut the budgeted cost of the legacy St.George data warehouse migration from $70 million to around $35 million, in its annual results. CEO Anthony Miller says the team used AI tools to speed up code conversion, testing and documentation, which helped complete the migration more than two years earlier at half the cost. The migration is expected to deliver around $15 million a year in direct benefits.
NoteMiller says the tools, methods and experience can be reused for other migrations.
